Statement sleeves have been having a moment lately. I’ve been seeing tons of pleated, puffed, flowing, and bell shaped sleeves in the stores. Anne of Green Gables would be proud (does anyone else remember when Anne finally got her puffed sleeve dress?)
I’ve really been loving bell sleeves and I think they have a nice retro vibe. Adding volume to the arms is a fun way to create a dramatic look without putting in too much effort. It doesn’t matter if you call them bell sleeves, trumpet sleeves, or flare sleeves, this style is here to stay and so you should learn to rock it. There are lots of ways you can wear them, but here are a few ideas to make any outfit with bell sleeves look fabulous.
Keep The Design Simple
Try going for a bell sleeve top or dress that’s one color or a simple pattern. If there is a lot of texture and patterns, it might look a little overwhelming. I chose a simple white colored top. I think the plain color keeps the sleeves as the main focal point. The top has that 70’s inspired look, but still looks fresh.
Stick To One Trend At A Time
Rather than trying out every fall tend at once, try incorporating one trend for each outfit. If you want to try out bell sleeves, then maybe you should avoid wearing a vintage inspired fur coat and glittery boots all at once. Instead, try wearing a bell sleeved shirt with jeans or a bell sleeve dress with some cute ankle boots. I chose to pear my top with black skinny jeans and black flats.
Add Accessories That Complement
Adding some accessories is a great way to make your outfit look finished and on point. Try adding a nice handbag and jewelry or you could also try a bold red lip with red nail polish. I added silver accents to my outfit. My shoes have a nice stud detail, the bag has a silver chain, and I picked out a long silver necklace and rings.
