DIY Grapefruit Sugar Scrub

grapefruit sugar scrub recipe - benefits to exfoliating

Grapefruit Sugar Scrub

I’ve always been really into exfoliating. Even in middle school, I remember I would love to make sugar scrubs with my friends. I guess I haven’t changed because lately, I’ve been making the best grapefruit body scrub. Do any of you guys love sugar scrubs like me? I use mine 2-3 times a week when I’m in the shower. It’s amazing how soft my skin feels afterward.

In the past, I would just use olive oil or coconut oil with sugar. Lately, I’ve been adding some essential oils. This makes all the difference. It smells so good! My two favorites to use are lavender and grapefruit. For some reason, I always thought that essential oils were expensive, but they aren’t. I got 8 different oils for $18 here. Do any of you guys use essential oils? What ones are your favorite? I know basically nothing about them other than they smell good.

There are some great benefits you can get from exfoliation

  1. soft, glowing skin – dead skin causes the surface to be uneven and dull looking. when you remove all the dead skin you are left with bright and glowing new skin. Say goodbye to patchy looking or rough skin.
  2. Reduces the signs of aging – dead skin cells enhance the look of fine lines and wrinkles. Adding exfoliation to your skincare routine will give you a more youthful appearance.
  3. Clears Skin – dirt, dead skin, and excess oils that build up over time can clog your pore and make you break out. A deep exfoliation will help unclog pores and manage breakouts.

Hope you all have a great Wednesday and let me know if you try the sugar scrub.

Hi Elise! Love your post on sugar scrubs. I have made some of my own exfoliating scrubs using coffee grounds and coconut oil, but I’ve never used sugar to make my own. I just received a bunch of essential oils for Christmas, so I will have to give it a go 🙂
