Okay, okay, I know I’ve kind of fell off the bandwagon when it comes to blogging the past month, but I’ve promised myself I’m going to do better. It’s been the hardest secret I’ve ever had to keep, but now the secret is out! Chris and I are having a baby and I’m due on June 10th.
Chris and I decided to start trying in September, but we didn’t think it would happen right away (little did we know.) I decided to take a pregnancy test on October 1st which was a Sunday, just for fun… and then it came back positive. OH. MY. GOSH! I didn’t think it was real because the second line was so faint you could barely see it. I went to the store and bought two more tests the next day. I ended up taking the two tests on Tuesday morning and when they both came back positive I just couldn’t believe it. It was such a surreal moment. I remember crying big happy tears once I realized I was going to become a mommy. Sometimes I still can’t believe I’m pregnant.
Telling the Hubby I’m Pregnant
I ended up telling Chris on Tuesday when he got back from work. I pretended I was making a video for my blog and I asked him to help. What he didn’t know was that I was actually recording everything. I asked him to grab something from the camera bag and inside I had a note saying “We’re Pregnant!” with the pregnancy test. His reaction was the best. I feel like his voice just kept on getting higher and higher and so did mine!
Our Announcement To The Family
We told our families on Thanksgiving. Both of our parents live close to each other so it was easy to go to two thanksgiving parties. I got these super cute mugs from etsy.com that say “Best Grandpa Ever” and “Best Grandma Ever.” I added a little tag that said “Baby Procter coming June 1oth, 2018” and wrapped the mugs up in boxes. Then Chris and I had our parents unwrap them. Both of our parents didn’t read the note on the mug right away and we had to point it out to them. Once they realized what was happening, they were so excited. Their reactions were priceless and it was so nice finally being able to tell someone else!
It’s a Girl
I’m planning on doing a first-trimester update post soon, but there is one update that I just can’t wait to tell you.
On my second doctor’s appointment at 11 weeks, I opted to get my blood drawn so they could do genetic testing. The doctor said it would cost me about $100 and they would test for any genetic abnormalities like down syndrome and they would also be able to find out the gender. I did the testing mostly just to find out the gender of the baby. I didn’t care so much about testing for genetic abnormalities because I knew if my baby did end up having something, I’d just love it the same and it really wouldn’t change anything. Then about a week later the hospital called me up with the results. My baby is perfectly healthy and no genetic issues were found. Then they asked if I wanted to know the gender and obviously, I said yes! It turns out we are having a sweet baby girl. Once I found that out, I started to cry again (it seems like I’ve been doing a lot of crying lately.)
I already just love this little baby growing inside me so much. Growing up I always knew I wanted to be a mom someday and I just can’t wait to see our little girl.
